Who We Are
Mohajir Academy is a non-profit online educational school dedicated to providing online and in-person quality education and skill-enhancing training to Afghan refugees, children, and girls in Afghanistan and Iran who have left behind of schooling. Mohajir Academy envisions a community where children, girls, and students are empowered with knowledge, critical thinking, skills, and cultural awareness, fostering lifelong learning and responsible citizens in an interconnected world.
Mohajir Academy School was launched in 2023 regarding the Taliban’s ban on girls' education and schooling in Afghanistan. However, another focus of Mohajir Academy is Afghan refugees and children residing in Iran who are unable to attend public schools due to not having ID cards and immigration documents or economic challenges. (Mohajir) is a Persian-Arabic word that means “immigrant—refugee,” and Mohajir Academy is also abbreviated as “MA”.
With the return of the Taliban on August 15, 2021, Afghan girls and women have been banned from education and schooling across Afghanistan. According to UNESCO's 2023 report, 1.1 million young girls and women have no access to formal education after the Taliban banned education. So, based on UNESCO, currently, 80% of Afghan girls and young women of school age, which reaches 2.5 million people, are out of school, and nearly 30% of girls in Afghanistan never have access to primary education.

Our mission is to empower underserved and marginalized communities through accessible, inclusive, and high-quality education, fostering personal growth and social development. Mohajir Academy aims to bridge educational gaps for Afghan refugees, children, and girls by delivering a comprehensive online curriculum that promotes academic excellence, critical thinking, and socio-emotional development.
We strive to create a supportive learning environment that respects cultural diversity and encourages lifelong learning locally, nationally, and globally. Thus, we concentrate on providing accessible, cultural awareness, and gender-inclusive online and in-person education and training to Afghan refugees, migrants, children, and girls in Afghanistan and Iran, fostering their academic, personal, and social development.

By leveraging both online and in-person learning, we aim to create a supportive and dynamic educational environment that nurtures the potential of each student. Our ultimate goal is to cultivate a generation of educated, confident, and empowered individuals who can contribute positively to their communities and beyond.
Our focus
The general—main focus and purpose of Mohajir Academy are to provide better and quality online and in-person education to promote knowledge for underprivileged, vulnerable, marginalized, and deprived individuals of education due to being displaced by war, armed conflicts, insecurity, discrimination, and not having immigration documents for refugees, children and girls in Iran and Afghanistan. Nevertheless, Mohajir Academy shall operate as a private non-profit and online school solely for the promotion of education.

Our Work Procedures
Online and In-Person Learning
We will utilize cutting-edge educational technology apps to create an interactive and engaging online learning environment accessible to all enrolled students and learners. Furthermore, in some rural and urban areas of Afghanistan, our training for girls and women will be held in person and hidden from the Taliban vision in underground places. These educational programs include English language, computer science, story-writing, creative writing, journalism, painting, designing, translation, editing, and so on.
Voluntary Teachers and Partners
We welcome voluntary, dedicated, skilled, and passionate educators and partners from around the globe who are committed to making a difference in the educational lives of our students and learners. Also, we welcome partnerships and collaborations to build strategic alliances regarding education with governmental and NGOs, educational institutions, universities, technology companies, and other individuals to enhance our programs and mission, share resources, and extend our reach through local, national, and international communities.
Funding and Transparency
Mohajir Academy shall be funded through donations, grants, and partnerships with local, national, and international organizations, universities, institutions, populations, and donor individuals committed to supporting education for Afghan refugees, children, girls, and women in Afghanistan and Iran. So, we earnestly and strictly maintain transparency in our operations, finances, and communications, building trust with our financial and educational sponsors.
